Visual Impact Assessment

The way we see a landscape shapes how we feel about it. Visual character plays a vital role in our sense of place, identity, and connection to country.

The visual landscape is an integral component to how we experience the landscape.

Ecoscape undertakes visual impact assessments (VIA) for a wide variety of projects including renewable energy (wind farm and solar), communications infrastructure, transport, waste facilities, mining, tourism and urban development.

VIA’s evaluate how a development will impact on the visual character on an area and help stakeholders understand the visual impacts of a project through detailed analysis and visualisations. The can inform site design or recommend strategies to minimise adverse impacts on the aesthetic values of the landscape.

Visual landscape assessments are also undertaken to inform planning policy that identify view locations and landscape features of high scenic value that need to be considered in development applications. They help to establish best practice siting and design principals for developments so they are sympathetic with the surrounding landscape and contribute to the local character.
