We are looking for a Senior Botanist to provide technical input and mentorship in a varied role. Our Fremantle-based consultancy has a great internal culture with both long-term team member tenure and long-standing client relationships across a number of industry verticals.

Key responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Having high level of botanical knowledge applied through delivering biological field surveys (detailed, reconnaissance and targeted). Producing high quality reports and GIS outputs. Demonstrating sound plant identification, statistical analysis and data management.
- Project & Budget Management: Delivering projects from proposals to close out, ensuring milestones are met on time, within budget, and to the highest regulatory standards. Undertaking field surveys in remote areas of WA for extended periods.
- Regulatory & Approvals Guidance: Navigate Western Australian and Commonwealth environmental legislation (including the EPBC Act and BC Act) to provide strategic advice to clients.
- Junior Mentorship: Foster the professional development of field scientists and junior technical staff whilst promoting a strong culture of safety.
- Quality Assurance: Writing and review of high quality detailed technical reports.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, sub-contractors, and regulatory bodies.
What you bring
- Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Botany, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience within environmental consultancy similar to Ecoscape, or a regulatory environment.
- Field & Technical Mastery: Demonstrated skills in botany, solid appreciation for data integrity and experience with GIS applications. Flora identification and vegetation health monitoring skills are desirable.
- Leadership Skills: Proven capability in managing field-teams and coordinating subcontractors and third parties.
- Communication: Strong technical writing skills. Emotionally intelligent approach to being part of teams and contributing to a positive culture.
- Project Management: Ability to draft winning proposals and manage project budgets.
- Working Rights: Hold a permanent work visa or Australian citizenship.
