RAC Margaret River Flora, Vegetation & Level 1 Fauna Surveys
RACWA was planning to increase the accommodation capacity at its Margaret River Nature Park whilst retaining as much ecological value as possible by limiting clearing to some smaller trees and understorey, and not disturbing any trees that may be or become habitat trees.
In 2018 Ecoscape was appointed to conduct Detailed flora and vegetation and Level 1 fauna survey incorporating a Black Cockatoo habitat tree survey conducted in accordance with Environmental Protection Authority current guidances.
The field survey, conducted in October 2018, identified two main vegetation types (Marri/Jarrah Woodland and Karri/Marri Forest), one conservation-listed flora species, one fauna habitat type, 265 Black Cockatoo habitat trees and 21 terrestrial fauna species, including one conservation-listed species. The most significant environmental aspect of the site was its value as habitat for threatened Black Cockatoos and Western Ringtail Possums.
