Great Northern Highway Biological Surveys
In 2018, Ecoscape conducted a Detailed flora and vegetation survey and Level 1 fauna and fauna habitat survey, including Black Cockatoos, of a 43 km road alignment and four materials pits nearby, northeast of Wubin.
The flora and vegetation survey identified 454 vascular flora species, including eight of conservation significance and 20 vegetation types, including vegetation that met the criteria to be considered representative of the Eucalypt Woodlands of the Western Australian Wheatbelt TEC, which was known to occur in the area and the Western Australian PEC of the same name.

The fauna survey identified the presence of 46 species, including two of conservation significance. The alignment was partly within the area of potential Black Cockatoo habitat; 70 trees that met the criteria to be considered habitat trees were recorded, three of them with hollows although none had evidence of occupation or use.
