Roe Highway Stage 7 – Infrastructure Planning

Ecoscape was instrumental in the planning of the Roe Highway, Stage 7 infrastructure development, contributing environmental consulting services with a focus on innovative revegetation and ecological restoration techniques.

Roe 7 Highway is a 4.6 kilometre section of the ring road around the eastern edge of Perth. The alignment traversed good to pristine condition open Banksia woodland. An alliance contract allowed the contractor, engineer, environmental scientist, artist, community, and landscape architect to collaborate effectively to meet performance indicators. Some of Ecoscape’s contributions included: preservation of 15 hectares of woodland for Carnaby’s Cockatoo habitat, experimental reconstruction and revegetation techniques with “business as usual or better” results, management of adjacent bushland condition with “outstanding” results, minimal impact on the declared rare Caladenia huegelii, and monitoring and maintenance for 5 years to improve revegetation technique.
