The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Golf Course is located on the north-east margin of the Coolgardie bioregion closely flanked by the Murchison, Great Victoria Desert and Nullarbor. This unique geographical position provides a landscape context and botanical richness that informed the landscape design through the use of indigenous plants highlighting their diversity in terms of textures, form and colours.
The use of ecological restoration technologies to enhance the resilience of the existing natural systems through weed control, soil conditioning and seed recruitment formed part of the landscape plan. The weaving of the golf course through this rich plant tapestry and providing contrast though material use was fundamental to the intended experience.
