Ecoscape, in association with artist Anne Neil, was selected to be on the team of one of three consortia invited to tender for the $1.6 billion Gateway Upgrade Project by the Queensland Department of Main Roads, which includes the duplication of the Gateway Bridge and the upgrade of 20km of the existing motorway by 2011. The Coastlink Consortium included Bouygues Travaux Publics of France and Macmahon Contractors. Ecoscape was responsible for the landscape architecture and public art component. It is envisaged that the upgrade will improve safety and reduce traffic congestion in South East Queensland, whilst providing a massive boost to the Queensland Economy as well as increase employment opportunities.
