Ecoscape was engaged by the Northern Agricultural Catchments Council to undertake landscape architectural services for the upgrade of tourist facilities on East Wallabi Island, offshore of Geraldton, WA. Ecoscape undertook a detailed site analysis of the island and assessed the current usage by tourists. A concept plan was prepared that addressed issues such as; pedestrian movement throughout the island, pedestrian safety from light aircraft, the provision of shade and amenity at key locations, the protection of local flora and fauna, and the provision of a consistent and informative signage strategy. Ecoscape completed construction documents and facilitated an open landscape tender for the appointment of a landscape contractor. Feedback from tourists, the Fisheries Department and NACC proved the concept was successful, but is yet to be implemented.
