Clarkson TAFE Workshops

Ecoscape was engaged to restore and create a landscape plan for the remnant bushland surrounding the Clarkson Tafe site in Perth's suburbs.

In response to local community conservation initiatives, the Clarkson Tafe site was retained as a patch of remnant bushland when the school was developed. However, the bushland has slowly degraded due to antisocial behaviors. Several Tuarts remain in reasonable condition with a degraded understorey with a fenced council stormwater sump in the south western corner.

The Spearwood Dune System dominates the geology and landscape character and informed the selection of appropriate landscape treatments. Local landscape character references are made by the stylised dunal forms, outcropping of Tamala limestone and the use of local planting. Site and roof drainage is integrated into the landscape to create a frontage that relates to the local environmental character. The entrance is enhanced by a 50m long, segmented steel, art piece by Daniel Eaton.
