This award-winning regional park is a mature landscape that transformed a former quarry and landfill site into a place of ecological significance and artistic beauty. It is a contemporary cultural landscape that expresses metaphorically the geomorphologic and recycling history of the site, and its relationship to the Fremantle community. The planning and design process was inclusive and initiated a repair of relationships with the local Indigenous people through ceremony, art and employment.
In 2006, Ecoscape received four Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Awards: WA State, WA Design Excellence, WA Environmental Merit and National Environment Commendation.
